Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Gulfport Admirals, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 17-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pearl. Gulfport was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pearl apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2021.
Several Admirals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nicholas Williams, who threw for 219 yards and a touchdown. Bishop Mcgruder was another key contributor, picking up 116 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Gulfport's defense sure didn't make it easy: Pearl's QB was sacked five times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Yaviel Lopez and Kadarrius Reed who racked up five sacks between them.
Gulfport's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Pearl, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.
Gulfport does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Pearl is on the road again on Friday and play against Brandon at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Brandon will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
