Softball Recap: General Brown Gets the Win

General Brown won the last time they faced Watertown and things went their way on Friday too. The Lions came out on top against the Cyclones by a score of 9-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Raegan Burgenstock was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Raegan Sharp was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Haley Parker was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

General Brown hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

General Brown now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Watertown, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, General Brown will host Indian River at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Watertown, they will head out on the road to square off against Sandy Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
