Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Cardinal Newman Cardinals, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They suffered a rough 24-3 loss at the hands of the Wildcats on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 54 points in the game before, Cardinal Newman couldn't push the score so high this time.
Jayson Colter threw for 59 yards on eight of 22 attempts. Zion Cargill was his top target, picking up 31 receiving yards. On the ground, Zachary Homan rushed for 88 yards.
Cardinal Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Marin Catholic, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Cardinal Newman does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Marin Catholic will look to defend their home field on Saturday against McClymonds at 1:00 p.m. McClymonds is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
