The Oglethorpe County Patriots and the Thomson Bulldogs will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Oglethorpe County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Thomson is ranked 58th).
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Oglethorpe County had to settle for a 50-48 loss against Pendleton. Oglethorpe County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Thomson put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They snuck past Luella with a 71-66 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Oglethorpe County's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Thomson, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Oglethorpe County took a serious blow against Thomson when the teams last played back in November of 2021, falling 87-56. Can Oglethorpe County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
