Grants Pass scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Thurston, 28-23. At the time, the Colts was ranked 22nd in the state, while the Cavemen was 69th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Thurston, who took down 22nd ranked Thurston, 28-23.
Chase Mackey and Ty Wolf gave Crater a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Mackey threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns, while Wolf ran for 63 yards. Teammate Carlos Higuerra added to the ground attack by rushing for 54 yards.
Corey Weick provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Justin Starck's team lost to Grants Pass. He completed 25 passes for 315 yards and one touchdown and also ran for nine yards. Weick's favorite target this week was Jack Miller, who caught eight passes for 116 yards.
Thurston's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Colts feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Weick has thrown for 975 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Miller has 17 catches for 257 yards. Roy Jackson leads the league in rushing with 304 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Comets and Sheldon. Crater enters the game ranked 23rd in the state, while the Irish ranks second.
There should be lots of points scored when John Beck's team and Sheldon face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Comets comes in having scored 131 this season, while Lane Johnson's team has scored 179. Crater scored 46 points last week as it beat North Medford.
The Irish extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating South Medford, 52-17. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
