Basketball Recap: Heartland Comes Up Short

Heartland played a tough matchup on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Plaza Heights Christian Academy and fell 71-39. The contest marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Heartland still got an impressive performance from Zach Stone, who went 5 of 9 en route to 15 points along with six blocks and four steals. Those six blocks gave Stone a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Stone, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 15 points.

Leading Plaza Heights Christian Academy to victory were Luke Jones and Remi Schieber. Jones went 12 of 22 on his way to 29 points along with eight boards and three steals, while Schieber went 10 of 19 en route to 26 points along with eight boards and three steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played dating back to last season. Sutton Schieber was another key player, putting up two points and seven rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Heartland and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Plaza Heights Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Heartland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 72-38 defeat against Bethel Academy on the 5th. As for Plaza Heights Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-41 loss against Cornerstone Family on the 6th.
