Hallsville is 9-1 against Texas since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Hallsville Bobcats challenge Texas Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hallsville had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Nacogdoches on Friday. The Bobcats never let the Dragons get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bobcats considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Lindsey Dubberly made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hope Miles, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Sadie Gonzalez was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.
Hallsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .739. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Texas hadn't done well against Whitehouse recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Wildcats. Texas' victory was all the more impressive since the Wildcats were averaging only 3.74 runs allowed on the season.
Eva Treadway spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, Preslie Clopp was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Taylor Tullos, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Hallsville is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Texas, they pushed their record up to 15-6-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hallsville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .398. However, it's not like Texas struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hallsville took their win against Texas in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
