7A District 11 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Charlotte and Venice played the most hotly contested game in 7A District 11 this week, with Charlotte eventually emerging with a 24-21 victory. Clyde Newton ran for 202 yards in the win.
Port Charlotte led the league in scoring this week after putting up 32 points on Palmetto Ridge.
The Fightin' Tarpons' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brennan McGill threw for 50 and one touchdown and Dwight Reynolds had 40 yards receiving. Dwayne Reynolds helped Charlotte's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
Charlotte's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Fightin' Tarpons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. McGill has thrown for 318 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Reynolds has eight catches for 115 yards. Newton leads the league in rushing with 825 yards.
Lemon Bay made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,907 from 6,306. The improvement came about via a 27-18 victory over Cardinal Mooney last week.
