Everything went their way against the Ayaprun Jaegers on Saturday as the Nelson Island Islanders made off with a 53-28 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Islanders have posted since January 10th.
Nelson Island's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kelsey Angaiak, who posted 24 points. Angaiak is becoming a predictor of Nelson Island's success: when she posts at least 15 points the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when she doesn't). Joanne Alexie was another key player, putting up 13 points.
The victory got Nelson Island back to even at 7-7. As for Ayaprun, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
Nelson Island has already played their next contest, a 75-46 loss against Chaputnguak on the 15th. Ayaprun does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
