Walnut has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Los Amigos Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Walnut rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against Silver Valley by a score of 27-16.
Walnut can attribute much of their success to Demetrius Stampley, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Los Amigos had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 28-20 victory over San Gabriel.
Among those leading the charge was Pedro Hernandez, who rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Maysen Navarro was another key contributor, rushing for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Walnut has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Los Amigos, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
