The Gordon-Rushville Mustangs entered their tilt with the Morrill Lions with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Gordon-Rushville enjoyed a cozy 56-39 win over Morrill on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Gordon-Rushville also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2022.
Mckinley Grover was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Trinity, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kinzley Hess, who scored nine points along with three steals. Hess hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Brooklyn Brown was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
Gordon-Rushville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Morrill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gordon-Rushville will take on Hemingford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Morrill, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Mitchell at 5:30 p.m. on February 1st. Mitchell is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
