Northgate hasn't had much luck against Alhambra recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Broncos will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Northgate is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Northgate will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Benicia, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Broncos walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Panthers on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Broncos' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Mackenzie Hudson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Taelyn Jriyasetapong was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Hanko, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Northgate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.
College Park hit Alhambra with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs came up short against the Falcons, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.
Alhambra saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juliana Carranza, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Alhambra's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Northgate, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-9.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northgate hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Alhambra struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northgate couldn't quite get it done against Alhambra when the teams last played two weeks ago as they fell 3-0. Can the Broncos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
