The Abbeville Christian Academy Generals entered their tilt with the Chambers Academy Rebels with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Abbeville Christian Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-55 victory over Chambers Academy on Thursday. Given Abbeville Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Chambers Academy is ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Javarse Turner was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Buckhannon, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Abbeville Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Chambers Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.
