Canby and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Lancers will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Canby's win against Lakeview wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lancers won by a run and slipped past the Lakers 5-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Lancers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Jace Rangaard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Will Abrahamson and Cash Antony did most of the damage at the plate: Abrahamson went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Antony went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Antony a new career-high. Dyllon Christianson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton made easy work of Ortonville on Thursday and carried off an 11-1 win.
Connor Lanoue was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Tracy-Milroy-Balaton is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 5-6 otherwise. Lanoue was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton let Noah Knakmuhs and Griffin Zick run wild. Knakmuhs went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Zick went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Tracy-Milroy-Balaton is undefeated when Knakmuhs posts three or more hits, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of David Schuh, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Tracy-Milroy-Balaton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 14.2.
Tracy-Milroy-Balaton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.7 runs. As for Canby, their record now sits at 3-6-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Canby has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tracy-Milroy-Balaton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Canby might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
