Baseball Recap: Fountain Hills Wins Going Away Against Highland Prep West

Fountain Hills got themselves on the board against Highland Prep West on Thursday, but Highland Prep West never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the HORNETS. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.

Cooper Loyet and Kainoa Brilhante were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Loyet tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Brilhante tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Loyet posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At bat, Loyet got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Brilhante went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Johnson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Sam Barnard was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Fountain Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Fountain Hills has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Highland Prep West, they dropped their record down to 3-12 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
