McCallie is 1-9 against the Fighting Irish since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The McCallie Blue Tornado have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. McCallie will be strutting in after a win while the Fighting Irish will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Chattanooga Christian scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, McCallie still came out on top. McCallie walked away with a 67-59 win over the Chargers. The score was all tied up 32-32 at the break, but McCallie was the better team in the second half.
It was another big night for Kenneth Chime, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 23 rebounds. Bryce Kennebrew was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Knoxville Catholic came up short against the Spartans on Thursday and fell 65-52. While losing is never fun, Knoxville Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Spartans are ranked eighth).
McCallie's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Knoxville Catholic, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 13-10.
McCallie beat the Fighting Irish 50-42 when the teams last played back in January. Will McCallie repeat their success, or do the Fighting Irish have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
