The Naples Classical Academy pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 80-66 fall against Oasis. Naples Classical lost against Oasis in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 75-37 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Naples Classical saw an underclassman step up: Daniel Coldiron scored 31 points. That was a full 47% of Naples Classical's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colman Gillen, who scored 12 points.
Javarius Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Oasis, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 13 rebounds. Jackson hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. Brendan Overbaugh was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Naples Classical's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-11. As for Oasis, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.
Naples Classical's road trip will continue as they head out to face Everglades City at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Everglades City will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Oasis will take on Bonita Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bonita Springs is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
