Roosevelt took a 69-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of McLane on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), Roosevelt still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Roosevelt saw an underclassman step up: Cobi Posas scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Posas is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted four or more in the last four games he's played. Jerimiah Mason was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven assists.
McLane's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Brown, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Brown hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cedric Hughes, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Roosevelt and nudges their season record down to 14-13. As for McLane, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season.
Roosevelt will be playing at home against Fresno at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Roosevelt has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 279 points over their last four matchups. As for McLane, they will head out on the road to take on Hoover at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Hoover's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while McLane has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
