The Southland Rebels will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Schaeffer Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. Southland is out to stop a 14-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
Southland pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kingsland. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southland in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost nine in a row.
Even though Schaeffer Academy has not done well against the Athletics recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Schaeffer Academy blew past the Athletics, posting a 49-21 win at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Schaeffer Academy.
Gabriella Buehler and Lillian Morrisey were among the main playmakers for Schaeffer Academy as the former scored 14 points along with three steals and the latter scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Morrisey hasn't dropped below three blocks for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Blythe Morgan, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Southland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Schaeffer Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
