Softball Recap: Washington Wins Going Away Against Steilacoom

Washington hadn't done well against Steilacoom recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Washington was the clear victor by an 11-2 margin over Steilacoom. 11 seems to be a good number for the Patriots as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Steve-Rae Garcia-Zamora made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than 14 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dee Moore, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Harmony Steenhard, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Washington's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.7 runs this season. As for Steilacoom, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
