The Providence Day Chargers were the 49-46 winner over the Winston-Salem Christian Lions when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Providence Day fell to Winston-Salem Christian 48-44.
Providence Day's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaida Mcclure, who scored 15 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Layla Clark, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Providence Day's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-7. As for Winston-Salem Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence Day will take on Charlotte Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Charlotte Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 294th, while Providence Day is ranked 28th). As for Winston-Salem Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against NC GBB Academy National at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
