Softball Recap: Hector's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Hector put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let the Mountainburg Dragons get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Sarena Myers made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Campbell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Reece Vincent, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Hector pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mountainburg, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hector will venture away from home to challenge Westside at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hector is facing Westside at the right time seeing as Westside is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Mountainburg, they will head out on the road to square off against Lamar at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
