The Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders pushed their score all the way to 80 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 81-80 to Independence. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Monday (72), Greater Beckley Christian still had to take the loss.
Greater Beckley Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Averyk Woodson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Woodson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aaron Hall, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds.
Greater Beckley Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Independence, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Greater Beckley Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Covenant Christian on January 13th. Independence's road trip will continue as they head out to face West Logan Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 15th.
