After flying high against the Greenview Bulldogs on Tuesday, the Astoria/VIT Rebels came back down to earth. Astoria/VIT took a hard 51-37 fall against Bushnell-Prairie City on Friday. Astoria/VIT has struggled against Bushnell-Prairie City recently, as their match on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Astoria/VIT lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ben Sherrod, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Sherrod scored a full 40.5% of Astoria/VIT's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Nic Huston was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Astoria/VIT's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.
Astoria/VIT's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Beardstown at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Bushnell-Prairie City's road trip will continue as they head out to face Farmington at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th.
