Hillsboro-Deering have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. They will square off against Souhegan at 2:30 PM on Friday. Souhegan will be strutting in after a win while Hillsboro-Deering will be stumbling in from a defeat.
Hillsboro-Deering couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a serious blow against Monadnock three weeks ago, falling 6-46. The national rankings had actually given Hillsboro-Deering a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
Meanwhile, Souhegan might be getting used to good results now that the team has three wins in a row. They made easy work of Manchester West last Friday and carried off a 48-14 victory. That looming 34-point mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Souhegan yet.
Hillsboro-Deering's loss took them down to 0-1 while Souhegan's win pulled them up to 5-3. Souhegan have been dynamite on the offensive side of the ball, averaging 30.25 points per game. We'll see if Hillsboro-Deering can find some way to disarm them.
