The Memorial Day Matadors will head out on the road to face off against the Robert Toombs Christian Academy Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Memorial Day was beaten by Southwest Georgia Academy 55-20. Memorial Day was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-6.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Julien Zamora, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Kindle, who threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last game, Robert Toombs Christian Academy made sure to put some points up on the board against Thomas Jefferson Academy on Friday. Robert Toombs Christian Academy really took it to Thomas Jefferson Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-12 win on the road. The result was nothing new for Robert Toombs Christian Academy, who have now won four games by 21 points or more so far this season.
David Hill was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown. Hill really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Ahmelion Jones was in the mix too, providing Robert Toombs Christian Academy with two touchdowns.
Memorial Day now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Robert Toombs Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Memorial Day took a serious blow against Robert Toombs Christian Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 43-6. Can Memorial Day avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
