The Mitchell Mustangs will take on the Parrish Community Bulls at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mitchell's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Parrish Community's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Mitchell is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past East Lake 10-3. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matches by six runs or more this season.
Taylor Tucker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on MacKenzie Tucker, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Audrey Midyett also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Parrish Community came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Warriors.
Not much got past Emmaline Van Beck, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Steinbrenner off the board.
On the hitting side, Parrish Community secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Alysa Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Mitchell's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Parrish Community, their record now sits at 25-3.
Mitchell came out on top in a nail-biter against Parrish Community when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
