The McDonough Rams came tearing into Wednesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Calvert at home to the tune of 73-25. McDonough might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three matchups by 30 points or more this season.
Mekhai Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Belfield, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
McDonough pushed their record up to 5-1 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 39.67 points. As for Calvert, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
McDonough will head out on the road to face off against Alexandria City at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Alexandria City is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.7 points per game. Calvert will finish 2023 at home by hosting Ocracoke at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Ocracoke's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
