Two dominant guards in Sam Waddell and Trent Clark are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Enka Jets will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Buncombe Black Hawks at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Enka and four for North Buncombe.
Enka pushed their score all the way to 78 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between them and McDowell wasn't particularly close, with Enka falling 97-78. While losing is never fun, Enka can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while McDowell is ranked 96th).
Meanwhile, North Buncombe pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 86-64 walloping at the hands of McDowell. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (56), North Buncombe still had to take the loss.
Enka's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for North Buncombe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Enka won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in January, slipping by North Buncombe 89-88. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Clark, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Enka still be able to contain Clark? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
