Chloe Constantino made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carly Constantino, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kalyn Dean was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Washington hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Jefferson made easy work of Martinsburg on Thursday and carried off a 16-1 victory.
Caroline ABE looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Jefferson got a massive performance out of Chloe Cowan, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaydence Ruffner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
Washington is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.
Both Washington and Jefferson just can't seem to miss. The Patriots have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Jefferson struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits.
