Hale County and Sulligent played the most hotly contested game in 2A Region 4 this week, with Hale County eventually emerging with a 13-7 victory.
Oakman made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,577 from 6,967. The advance stemmed from a 50-36 victory over Aliceville last week.
Hatch's dynamic duo of De'Rodrick Norfleet and Tra Wilkins Jr. proved tough for Cold Springs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Norfleet threw for 160 yards and one touchdown and Wilkins Jr. had 76 yards receiving. Deizman Ellis helped Hatch's passing attack out by catching four balls for 45 yards.
Alex Wheeler was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 97 yards on eight carries as Lamar County bested the Eagles. Teammate Dallas Cockerham added to the ground attack by rushing for 55 yards.
Tanner Johnson made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Bulldogs topped Marion. The 5-foot-6 sophomore grabbed one interception.
Hatch's Norfleet and Brandon Jones have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Norfleet has thrown for 1522 yards this season, while Jones, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 29 catches for 750 yards. Lamar County's Cockerham leads the league in rushing yards with 687.
Two of the top units in 2A Region 4 will face off this week when Ken Adams' team takes on the Wildcats. The Bulldogs' offense has recorded 303 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Hale County has permitted only 152 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Joey Milligan's team takes on Lamar County. The Wildcats are currently in third, while the Bulldogs are in second.
Lamar County led the league in scoring this week after putting up 58 points on the Rams. Cockerham threw for 140 yards and one touchdown in the win.
