Tucson High Magnet School waltzed into their contest on Monday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They came out on top against the Walden Grove Red Wolves by a score of 5-1.
Alyssa Torres spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sofia Trejo was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Adreana Hernandez, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Tucson High Magnet School pushed their record up to 22-8 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Walden Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.
