Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Bowie Bears, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 45-3 loss at the hands of Estacado on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, Bowie couldn't push the score so high this time.
Estacado was led to victory by James Bozeman and Cedric Ross. Bozeman rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while Ross rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown. Ross really tore up the turf during one magnificent 83-yard run. Luis Gomez got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Bowie are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.0 points per game. As for Estacado, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Bowie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Estacado will head out on the road to face off against Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canyon will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
