Logan has gone 9-1 against Cimarron recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Longhorns will take on the Rams at 3:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Logan put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 34-2 margin over Mora. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Longhorns with their most commanding win of the season.
Kale Griffiths made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Griffiths was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Logan got a massive performance out of Aydin Kotara, who fired off eight RBI, four runs, and two triples while going 4-for-5. Those two triples gave Kotara a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mitchell Wall, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances.
Logan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .710. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Cimarron is still undefeated this season after their match against Dexter on Thursday, but Dexter came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Rams narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Demons 11-9. The 11-run effort marked the Rams' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Like Logan, Cimarron also got a great game from a two-way player: Orion Ledoux. On the mound, Ledoux struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Urijah Martinez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ledoux has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ledoux scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Martinez scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taven Martinez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Logan's record is now 4-1. As for Cimarron, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Logan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .469. However, it's not like Cimarron struggles in that department as they've averaged .496. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Logan might still be hurting after the 14-8 loss they got from Cimarron in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Longhorns avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
