Dickinson is 1-9 against Clear Springs since October of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Gators will host the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Dickinson comes in on three and Clear Springs on five.
Dickinson had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Brazoswood on Tuesday. The Gators blew past the Buccaneers 3-0.
While Dickinson won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-10, 26-24.
Among those leading the charge was Athina Rodriguez, who had eight digs and three aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in August.
Meanwhile, Clear Springs got the win against Clear Falls on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.
Clear Springs got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-18, 33-31.
Dickinson better keep an eye on Lianna Kearns. She was instrumental in Clear Springs' win, getting 15 digs and two assists. Aubree Svoboda also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
Dickinson's victory bumped their record up to 19-11. As for Clear Springs, their win bumped their record up to 26-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Dickinson has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Clear Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Dickinson was able to grind out a solid victory over Clear Springs in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. Will the Gators repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
