The team relied heavily on Cali Thornton, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Paityn Donalson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Seffner Christian got the win against Foundation Christian Academy on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Allison Baston made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Tenley Newman was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Eliana Serrano, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Lakeland Christian's record now sits at 12-7. As for Seffner Christian, their record is now 12-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Lakeland Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Seffner Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Lakeland Christian's way against Seffner Christian in their previous meeting back in March, as Lakeland Christian made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
