The Oneonta Redskins will head out on the road to face off against the Clay-Chalkville Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oneonta will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Oneonta's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Sardis by a score of 4-0. While the Redskins didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Tyler Butts made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.
Butts wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Glover, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clay-Chalkville). They blew past Shades Valley 14-3 on Tuesday.
The team relied heavily on EJ Thomason, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Kayden Lee also deserves some recognition as he stole his first stolen base of the season.
Clay-Chalkville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Oneonta pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs over those games. As for Clay-Chalkville, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-3.
Oneonta came up short against Clay-Chalkville in their previous matchup back in March of 2018, falling 8-5. Can Oneonta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
