The Regis Groff Fusion's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 44-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Niwot. Regis Groff lost against Niwot in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 73-13 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Regis Groff had strong showings from Darius Owens, who scored eight points along with six steals, and Jamal Bailly, who scored eight points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Niwot to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rohit Das, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Carano, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Regis Groff's defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-1. As for Niwot, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-0.
Regis Groff will take on Denver North at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Denver North presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Regis Groff in Colorado (Denver North is ranked 141st, while Regis Groff is ranked 287th). As for Niwot, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Battle Mountain at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Battle Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday.
