Volunteer's 24-12 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Unicoi County an easy 70-48 victory. While losing is never fun, Volunteer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while Unicoi County is ranked 96th).
Meanwhile, Daniel Boone scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 93-85 victory over Sullivan East. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Volunteer has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Daniel Boone, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Volunteer didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Daniel Boone in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 68-64 victory.
