The Fillmore Central Panthers were the 49-47 winner over the Fullerton Warriors when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Fillmore Central took a 38-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fullerton. Fillmore Central's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Fillmore Central lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Kaili Head. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for her. Ali Nichols was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Fillmore Central were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Leading Fullerton to victory were Paige Horn and Jaci Maxfield. Horn scored eight points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Maxfield scored 15 points along with five assists. Maxfield is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keila Dubas, who scored six points.
Fillmore Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Fullerton, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Fillmore Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face Central City at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th. Hopefully Central City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Tuesday. As for Fullerton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nebraska Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
