The Foard Tigers pushed their score all the way to 57 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Iredell. Foard lost against North Iredell in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 88-50 score last time.
Foard's loss came despite strong showings from Carson Bess and Graham Orndoff. Bess scored 23 points along with six rebounds, while Orndoff scored 16 points along with four steals. The match was Orndoff's eighth in a row with at least ten points. David Hartsoe was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Foard has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for North Iredell, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foard will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Iredell at 8:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. After both having extra time off, North Iredell and St. Stephens will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
