The Colon Magi won the last time they faced the Tekonsha Indians, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Colon really took it to Tekonsha for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-31 win at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-17.
Colon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maverick Downs led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine steals. Downs hasn't dropped below three steals for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Dalton Williams, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
The win got Colon back to even at 8-8. As for Tekonsha, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-15.
Colon won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Homer at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Colon has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Tekonsha, they will head out on the road to take on Hillsdale Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hillsdale Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Tekonsha surely won't give up without a fight.
