There's no place like home for Gateway Christian, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 59-47 win over Isle of Wight Academy on Monday. This was payback for Gateway Christian, who suffered a 60-43 loss the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gateway Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacob Holestin, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. The contest was Holestin's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Matthew Johnson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Gateway Christian's win ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-4. As for Isle of Wight Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Gateway Christian will look to defend their home court on Friday against Atlantic Shores Christian at 6:30 p.m. As for Isle of Wight Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Greenbrier Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
