The Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles were the 70-42 winner over the Northwest Christian Crusaders when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Bourgade Catholic took a serious blow against Northwest Christian on Monday, falling 53-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bourgade Catholic has scored all season.
Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Juliet Botiller, who scored ten points along with four steals. Botiller scored a full 55.6% of Bourgade Catholic's points, the 14th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Vanessa Arismendez was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Bourgade Catholic struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Katelyn Best continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Northwest Christian, scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylie Seifried, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Bourgade Catholic and nudges their season record down to 5-9. As for Northwest Christian, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.
Bourgade Catholic will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Camp Verde at 5:30 p.m. As for Northwest Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Scottsdale Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Scottsdale Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Northwest Christian is ranked 87th).
