Softball Recap: Provo's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Provo barely beat Summit Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Provo put the hurt on Summit Academy with a sharp 17-2 win on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Provo let Tava'Esina Albert and Ella Knudsen run wild. Albert fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3, while Knudsen went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Knudsen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Ayala, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Provo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory snapped Provo's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 3-5 record. As for Summit Academy, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Provo and Green Canyon will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Provo's pitchers better be ready for this one: Green Canyon has averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Summit Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against American Leadership Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
