Capital Athletic League recap November 13, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Whitney, who took down 263rd ranked Antelope, 38-23. Drew Romo threw for 164 yards and 1 touchdown during the win.
Rio Americano's Russell Patty recorded the longest rushing play in Capital Athletic League this season in his game against El Camino last week. Patty's team lost to the Eagles as he sprinted for 75 yards on the play and finished with 119 in all.
Rio Americano's dynamic duo of Shaun Dhillon and Kadyn Silva proved to be unstoppable against El Camino, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dhillon threw for 196 yards and 5 touchdowns and Silva had 74 yards receiving. Chris Moor helped Rio Americano's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 46 yards.
Zack Tapia was a passing and rushing force as Cordova bested Mira Loma. He completed 8 passes for 133 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 109 yards. Tapia's favorite target this week was Lorenzo Bermedez, who caught 5 passes for 65 yards.
Sam Folau made the biggest impact on defense this week as Adam Reinking's team beat Max Miller's team. The 6-foot-0 senior forced 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Wildcats' Romo and Kris Corpus have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-4 quarterback Romo has thrown for 1,557 yards this season, while Corpus has 24 catches for 407 yards. Greg Scott from the Eagles leads the league in rushing with 1,017 yards.
Jonnie Hilliard has rushed for 911 yards on 167 carries so far this year.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Whitney beat the Titans 38-23. The win marks sixth in a row for the Mike Gimenez's team.
