Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Southmont Mounties, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell to the Wolves 65-61. Southmont has struggled against Parke Heritage recently, as their match on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Mounties players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Delorean Mason, who scored 19 points along with five steals. Mason is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 21 games she's played. Cheyenne Shaw was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals.
Parke Heritage was led to victory by Addilee Jenkins and Emma Simpson. Jenkins shot 4-for-6 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds, while Simpson dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jenkins has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Catherine O'Brien, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Southmont's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Parke Heritage, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 22-3.
Southmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Parke Heritage, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Greencastle at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Parke Heritage is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season.
