Mullen has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Sandhills Valley Mavericks at TBD on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Mullen had to suffer through a rough 66-36 loss at the hands of South Loup. Mullen was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-15.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 72-32, which was the final score in Sandhills Valley's tilt against Cozad on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Sandhills Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while Cozad is ranked 20th).
Mullen's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Sandhills Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.
Mullen couldn't quite finish off Sandhills Valley in their previous matchup back in January and fell 35-33. Can Mullen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
