The Antonito Trojans lost against the Creede Miners back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Antonito was dealt a 68-40 loss at the hands of the Miners. Antonito has not had much luck with the Miners recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Destanaya Quintana and Zanita Garcia certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Quintana dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds, while Garcia scored 12 points along with three steals. Quintana is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least nine every time she's taken the court this season.
Creede found their leader in underclassman Lila Fairchild, who scored 41 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Fairchild has scored at least a third of Creede's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Laing, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Antonito's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Creede, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Antonito will head out on the road to square off against the at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake City is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Creede, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
