The Coolidge Colts and the Kenwood Broncos will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Kenwood is hoping to do what Archbishop Carroll couldn't on Friday: put an end to Coolidge's winning streak, which now stands at nine games. Coolidge took their matchup with ease, bagging a 72-30 win over Archbishop Carroll. Given the Colts' advantage in MaxPreps' District of Columbia basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while the Lions are ranked 152nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coolidge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kahmya Dixon, who posted ten points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. Dixon has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Josslyn Derricott, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.
Coolidge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Kenwood waltzed into their game on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They breezed by the Knights to the tune of 72-21.
Kenwood's win came from a few key players Coolidge will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ariella Henigan, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 18 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Diann Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Coolidge's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Kenwood, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Coolidge hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64.1 points per game. However, it's not like Kenwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 76.6 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
